When you only have one....

This is my one and only brother.  He is awesome and I love him.
(He is my younger brother - just remember that George!  Who's the boss?)

Great hair George!

Shooting the Olympics.  He is an amazing photo journalist with numerous magazine covers to his credit (Time, U.S. News and World Report etc..)

George has definite mountain man in him.
He took me up my first  Fourteener back in 1976.
He's climbed most of the 53 peaks above 14,000 ft. in Colorado.
His goal is to get them all.
(I think I've managed to ascend 5 of them and he's been along on every one
patiently helping his sisters struggle their way up.)

Love ya bro!

Mother Teresa and Joy...

"Joy comes to those who in a sense forget themselves and become totally aware of the other."

"Joy must be one of the pivots of our life.  It is the token of a generous personality.  Sometimes it is also a mantle that clothes a life of sacrifice and self-giving.  A person who has this gift often reaches high summits.  He or she is like a sun in a community."

"Resist anything that leads to moodiness.  Our prayer each day should be, 'Let the joy of the Lord be my strength.'"

"Joy is very infectious.  We will never know just how much good a simple smile can do.  Be faithful in little things.  Smile at one another.  We must live beautifully."

"If you are joyful, it will shine in your eyes and in your look, in your conversation and in your countenance.  You will not be able to hide it because joy overflows."

I love reading about and quotations from Mother Teresa.  I have such an admiration for her.  I used to want to do something like she has done but as I had five children by the time I began reading about her I decided it would really be a better choice to not hang up my hat and head to India.  :)  And, I'm a believer that we all have our own path in life and that there are many opportunities each day in our own unique, obscure lives to make contributions to the world one person at a time.

Cats!

We have a new cat around the house to join with the feline friends who line up at our back door waiting to be fed.  She's somewhat feisty as you may already know.

A few photos of Caitlin preparing for her choir concert which included some selections from the musical Cats.

Soccer ...

Cameron (#11) who is in 9th grade is trying out for the high school soccer team this week.  We have a fairly competitive soccer program and so expectations are high.  He made the cuts yesterday and just called me to tell me he's on the list posted today.  He has one more day to hustle his muscle and if he's on the list tomorrow he's on the team.

Christian (#9) is another soccer enthusiast in our family.  He writes a soccer blog covering the ins and outs of the soccer world.  Here's the link:  http://footballpitch90.blogspot.com/
